A weekly newsletter including class updates, reminders, and assignments will be emailed to you before the start of each week. Students should read nightly for at least 10-20 minutes. Make sure to read with you child or discuss what they read to make reading more meaningful at home. Occasionally we will send home a math homework page to accompany math skills that need extra practice. Some math homework sheets will be optional. Practicing addition and subtraction math facts to 20 is also a great thing for your child to practice at home with flashcards or digital games. If we move to any distance learning, assignments will also be posted in Google Classroom under the Classwork tab.

For your child's birthday, please refrain from sending in food to distribute to the class. Your child can bring in something for Show and Tell on this day, whether it be a special toy, or printed or emailed picture of something special. If your child's birthday falls on a weekend or summer you can arrange for another day for his or her Show and Tell. Other options can be to send in a book, small trinkets or game to donate to the class from your child.

Behavior Management

Our school will be using the PAX Good Behavior Management Plan. This is a program that teaches students to use self regulation to monitor their behavior. PAX is the Latin word for peace. The program works to create peace, productivity, health and happiness in our classroom environment. Together, our class will create a PAX vision for the actions and behaviors we want to see and not see in our classroom. Students will learn to use cues for various behaviors and activities in class. These are called PAX Cues. They are designed to reduce disruptions, increase time for instruction, and help foster an even more wonderful classroom and school. Students will also get the opportunity to win "Granny's Wacky Prizes" such as a short game or movement throughout the day to make learning fun and promote a sense of community in the room.

Daily attendance is taken at the start of the school day. Students can enter the building at 8:45A.M. The tardy bell rings at 9:00 A.M. If your child will be late or absent from school, please notify the office before school starts. The school day ends at 3:40 P.M.
