Hilton Elementary School Counseling Website

Welcome to the Hilton Elementary School Counseling Website! Hilton Elementary is part of the Brecksville-Broadsview Heights City School District and has one full time school counselor working hard to support student needs. School counselors teach social emotional classroom lessons and offer students both individual and group counseling services. Counselors also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students.

Meet the School Counselor

Hello everyone! My name is Mrs. Gastaldo and I feel so fortunate that I am able to serve students and families at Hilton. I am from Columbus, Ohio and began my school counseling career there after earning my master's degree from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). In 2018 my family relocated to Northeast Ohio and we now live in Cuyahoga Falls. In my free time I enjoy running, hiking, walking my dog and cheering on the Cleveland Indians with my husband.

The 2021-2022 school year will be my third year as the school counselor at Hilton. I will be using this website as a platform to update our school community on school counseling programming and curriculum. I will also be sharing helpful resources.

The Role of the Elementary School Counselor

Social Emotional Curriculum

An important part of my job is teaching students social-emotional skills. Examples of lesson topics include feelings identification and management, empathy, conflict resolution and friendship skills. I also teach students academic skills, such as strategies for maintaining focus and staying organized. The content of these lessons depends on your child’s grade level. Every child in the building participates in these lessons with their classmates.

Small Group Counseling

A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 3- 12 members and usually meet once a week during lunch for several weeks.

Individual Counseling

Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges.
