Who can order from BAVTS Graphic Communications?
Any class within BAVTS can order and anyone that lives in the Bethlehem, Northampton and Saucon Valley school districts. Proof of residence may be requested. The GC class will not print products for businesses within the school districts unless they are non-profit organizations. We are training students to enter the work force after graduating and taking work away from the businesses that will hire our students is counterproductive.
What is the Order Process?
Start by filling out the Request a Quote. Include as much detail as you can and attach files if you have them. We'll then work up a quote for you and email it. If you want us to continue with the order, you'll need to fill out a Work Order and submit it to the BAVTS Business Office. Once GC receives the approved work order, we'll put your job into our production schedule and be in touch when a proof is completed.
What if it's for something I've ordered previously?
The order process is the same. We still want to quote the job for you and you will need to fill out a Work Order with the business office.
Can I bring my own garments to be screen printed by GC?
Of course you can. Whether it's for a job or if you want to have BAVTS swag printed (employees only). If you want BAVTS swag printed, please contact GC first to see when we will be running BAVTS prints so you can bring your garment in at the right time.
How do I submit artwork?
The Request a Quote form includes a place for submitting artwork. You can also email artwork to lindenmuthm@bavts.org. Please include ARTWORK in the subject so it doesn't get lost. If you only have a physical copy of the artwork, please drop it off at Graphics with Meri or the Class Production Manager.
I have an odd project that isn't covered by the samples. Can you make it?
Depends. We might be able to. We might not. It's easiest if you fill out the Request a Quote with the details and we can figure it out from there. If we're able to do it, we'll send you a quote. If we can't, we'll let you know right away, but we're always up for a challenge.
What if I don't know what size I need for my vinyl graphics, signage or window perf order?
That's okay. If you're in the school, we'll come to you and take a measurement. If you're not, we'll figure something out. Sometimes we can figure out the size of something based off a photo.
I'm curious. How does production work in Graphic Communications?
Production is almost completely student led and managed. There are four production teams in the PM session and three in the AM session. Students rotate, by marking period, through each team. There are senior production managers that oversee production and report to the instructor. The junior production managers lead their teams and report to the senior production managers. The students receive a real world experience on how a print shop runs, along with the responsibilities of working with clients. If you're interested in learning more, please feel free to contact Mrs. L for more information or to discuss a tour of the Graphics theory and lab area.
