My name is Linda Korum. I grew up in Oregon City. I have lived in the Battle Ground School District for 23 years. I taught math intervention and 5th grade before I became a 7th grade math teacher. This will be my 14th year at Tukes. I have written 3 books, however, none are published, yet. My career as an author was cut short by my desire to pursue a Masters Degree in Education. I was an exchange student to Finland and still speak with my friends in Finland regularly. I have taught Finnish, Cultural Studies and the school Newsletter as after-school activities, as well as team leader for the SW Math Challenge and Advisor with the Dream Team. I was the ASB Advisor for 8 years. I was on the Districts' Number Talk Committee and the Math Academy and I am currently in my 6th year of the Statewide Math Fellows program. I also won a National competition for American History Teacher of the year. In 2021, I won Green Medalist Award from Earth Gen. My daughter, Anna, is 24 years old and graduated from Battle Ground High School. I have 3 dogs living at my house, Amara (mixed breed) and Boone and Willa May (black labs - are also both my daughter's). I also have a cat named Midnight and a turtle named Gus and another one which was rescued this summer, and not yet named.
Amara is now 7 years old and so silly!
Here's Boone! He is Amara's partner in crime!
Boone LOVES water! He is patiently waiting for me to turn the hose on.
Amara likes Gus. Boone wants to eat him.
I take selfies with George Washington (here is Young George in Williamsburg, VA)
Here is George a little older here in Vancouver, WA
Darcy and I walk our dogs together!
Here, Greg and I are exploring the Olympic Peninsula and the Tillamook Forest
Here, Greg and I are riding a Sand rail in St Anthony, ID.
I am a Great Aunt (again). This is Sienna and her older sister is in the background (Sloane)
Besides teaching, I like to camp, swim, hike, play in the snow and sand and explore. I love reading and drinking coffee and traveling.
We have a lot of fun in my class, but we also have a lot to learn and I have high expectations for ALL my students. I look forward to seeing how much each of my students grow throughout the year, and beyond!
