We can never practice the speech mechanism too many times! Below are 5 basic steps we take when speaking. Keep in mind these steps happen almost simultaneously in real time.
Think about what you want to say-brain
Breathe in -lungs
Breathe out - lungs
Exhaled air makes vocal cords vibrate creating voice- voice box
Shape the voice sound with the articulators to make words - tongue, teeth, lips.
Some students have been practicing over enunciating tongue twisters in order to practice slowing down their speech and make sure that their words are clear. Click here to find some fun tongue twisters for practice. Remember to say e-v-e-r-y sound in each word. Do so to the point where you feel silly. Practice can be fun too!
