About me

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest has really solidified my love for being outside and appreciating every season. As a kid, I was engaged in as many activities as possible (sports, outdoor recreation/camping, youth group, gardening, volunteering, to name a few). With family members active in sciences, I developed a strong interest in how the world worked, how we categorize things, and utilize our knowledge so that we can apply it to make our life better. With a strong drive to make this world a better place and a passion for science, I decided to become a teacher. For over 10 years now, I have taught Science, Technology, Engineering and Math classes, as well as coached Lacrosse for kids ranging from 3rd grade to high school.

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my wife, and two kids, working on our alpaca farm and exploring the natural world around us. This year we had 10 alpaca babies (called cria), built a barn out of reused shipping containers, and creating lots of different ways to use alpaca fleece!

I love River HomeLink's creative opportunities for education and am so excited to engage students with active and experiential learning. The idea of being able to partner with families to create a rich, rigorous, and real-world focused learning experience opens up so many opportunities for students, so please reach out to me if you have any ideas of things we could incorporate into our student's learning or ways to modify for your learning needs.
