Teachers met on Wednesday and we looked at our discipline data from the referrals teachers have been filling out. Most of the incidents we have seen and reported have occurred at recess. As such, we are going to work on better communicating recess expectations to students. For parents:
For 2nd recess, we aim to ensure that there are at least 2 parents outside with the students. If I only have 1 available, then I will also go outside and take the entire class outside with us.
Ideally we would do this for lunch/recess as well.
I will start bestowing our classroom badge on one parent a day that enables them to open the door around the corner from our classroom in the hallway.

Takeaways and Struggles:
Students are beginning to get more comfortable with each other, and as such teasing and bullying behaviors are beginning to crop up. We had a conversation in class this week about problem solving, what our expected behaviors are, and being kind. Please remind your child to come to me if they are being bullied and let me know so that I can do my best to address the behaviors. Please also have conversations with your child about problem solving strategies and coping skills that can benefit them well into adulthood as they confront conflicting personalities.
