Mrs. Butler
All: We will be focused on IEP goals through guided, independent work
The below information is from the Syllabus.
Grading (Points):
(5) Weekly WORK - Weekly work is assigned with students’ abilities in mind.
(5) points (100%) - I did my best work this week! I worked towards my goals with effort.
(4) points (80%) - I did work, but it was not my best. I might have been: tired, grumpy, distracted, or distracting others.
I am capable of accomplishing more / higher quality work.
(3) points (60%) - I did very little work and did not perform in a student mindset.
(2) points (40%) - I refused to work. I did zero work.
(INC) - Incomplete. Class was missed. No work was done towards student goals. Absences affect completed work towards goals. Attendance is important to student growth.
(10) ASMT - Assessment of student skills . Students often start new goals with 0 skills or have holes in their learning that assessments show. 10 points are given for doing the assessment, even if answers are incorrect.
(100) PROJ - Projects are great ways for students to really dig into learning. It is a gathering of work over time or a personal focus to show learning. Students work towards understanding over time and use projects to show multi-step, quality work. Project scores are based on a rubric (score guide) of quality, effort, and detail.
(100) TEST - After weeks of practice, students take a test to show learning growth. Wrong answers affect the grade. Students can have 1 retake, for a replacement grade. Original scores may be added to the notes section in Skyward, so all can see improvement has been made.

Skyward might say "Excused" but it is the absence that is excused, not the work. Work must still be done.
For students on an IEP, after 3 unexcused absences, state law asks the IEP team to meet.
Please remember to call in to the office, if you are unable to attend school.
Compassion help / School Counselors - We can ask them to meet with students - just ask! If your student is
having difficulties, please let us know so we can compassionately help them to succeed.
