Hello Families of River HomeLink,

For the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, River HomeLink will be participating in remote learning. Please check Google Classroom for all updates on class communication and information - assignments are posted once per week on Mondays. Google Classroom access has been sent to students/families via email.

What we're learning...

the week of June 8th - June 12th:

1. Math Grade 4

  • No new math assignments this week! Please take this time to finish up Mission #7 in Zearn and practice "starred" 4th grade math skills in IXL.

2. Primary Science

  • Look for the Scientific Method - Final Step! assignment in Google Classroom (to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, June 12th).
  • If students finish this assignment early, they may use this Primary Science BINGO Board to participate in a science scavenger hunt at home. If students mark 5 boxes in a row, they may submit their BINGO boards to Miss LaLonde for a virtual prize!

3. STEM 3/4

  • Students should watch the following video to end their year in STEM 3/4: What Happened When We All Stopped? (there is a link to a FREE downloadable children's book version of this video at the end!)

4. French

  • Kindergarten-5th grade students are invited to watch The Little Prince and complete a corresponding coloring sheet.
  • Students in grades 1-5 are also invited to practice Le Petit Prince French vocabulary on Quizlet and join Miss LaLonde for a final ZOOM session this Wednesday, June 10th.

the week of June 1st - June 7th:

1. Math Grade 4

  • Students should complete the Mission 6 Assessment before the end of the day on Sunday, June 7th.
  • Mission 7: Multiply and Measure (last mission!) should be completed in Zearn by the end of the day on Friday, June 12th (last day of school).
  • EXTRA: NEW ixl math skills have been bookmarked (starred) for all students in the "Money," "Add and Subtract Decimals," "Units of Measurement," and "Time" categories. Use this link to log into ixl.com now. Students will have access to these skills during summer break as well.

2. Primary Science

  • This week, students should complete Step #2 (out of 3 total steps) for their Scientific Method Experiments - look for the Scientific Method Worksheet assigned in Google Classroom.

3. STEM 3/4

  • Students should complete the "Bread Science!" assignment in Google Classroom before the end of the day on Sunday, June 7th.

4. French

  • All French students are invited to listen to this week's *NEW* French/English bilingual audiobook story - Inigo Idaho, Insect Inspector - which introduces *NEW* insect vocabulary and reviews all vocabulary introduced this school year.
  • Wednesday students are also encouraged to study *NEW* "Les insectes" French vocabulary words in Quizlet and join a Quizlet Live practice session with their classmates on ZOOM this Wednesday, June 3rd.

the week of May 26th - May 31st:

1. Math Grade 4

  • Students should complete the Mid Mission Quiz before the end of the day on Sunday, May 31st.
  • Mission 6 should be completed (in Zearn) by the end of the day on May 31st as well.
  • Students may begin Mission 7 (in Zearn) as soon as they are ready.

2. Primary Science

  • Students will begin the Scientific Method Experiment project this week, which will be a 3-week project that takes us through the end of the school year.
  • Step #1 of the project has been assigned in Google Classroom and is due by the end of the day on Sunday, May 31st.

3. STEM 3/4

  • Students should complete the "Will microbes save our planet with their poop?" assignment in Google Classroom by the end of the day on Sunday, May 31st.

4. French

  • All French students have the opportunity to listen to Grandpa's Lost in Space by Heloise O'Donoghue - our *NEW* French/English bilingual audiobook.
  • Wednesday students are encouraged to continue practice of *NEW* space vocabulary words in Quizlet and should look for a link in their email this week to play Quizlet Live with their classmates.
  • Additional vocabulary packets were emailed to kindergarten families and posted in Google Classroom for Wednesday families.
