Tanker 1

We are the proud owners of a new-to-us water tanker! Since there are no fire hydrants and pond water is not always accessible, we desperately needed a fire truck that can haul water. The BVFD has applied for a Texas Forest Service grant for a new tanker fire truck for years. We have not been able to secure such a grant and have been financially unable to purchase a new apparatus. We stumbled upon this apparatus in October and made an offer. They accepted our offer and it was parked in our fire station that night! It's a 1991 Chevy with 3000 gallons of water. The engine runs good and the pump works. We are hoping to let this "mobile fire hydrant" hold us over until we can afford or be granted funds to purchase a new apparatus with more advanced capabilities and equipment storage. In the mean time, Tanker 1 is in service and full of water.
