Researchers who intend to conduct studies involving human participants, human data, medical records, biological samples, or identifiable information within Batangas Medical Center must submit their protocol for ethical review and approval before the research begins.
Researchers must submit their research protocol before the start of the study or data collection. No research activity involving human participants should begin without ethical clearance from the RERC.
The RERC may conduct the following types of review:
Full Board Review – for studies with more than minimal risk to participants
Expedited Review – for research with minimal risk
Exempt Review – for certain types of low-risk research
The committee determines the appropriate review category.

Yes. Any modification or revision to an approved research protocol must be submitted to the RERC as a Protocol Amendment and must receive approval before implementation.
Researchers must submit a Final Report to the RERC once the study is completed. The report should summarize the results and confirm that the study was conducted according to the approved protocol.
