Terms and Conditions

General

Equipment and Open Access can only be booked via the Siso Resource Booking System - https://bathspa.siso.co/cola)

Requests for equipment should be given at least 12 hours in advance, this is to allow for preparation of equipment.

Requests for equipment used on film shoots should be accompanied by a Risk Assessment form. Production Managers must complete the Risk Assessment documentation in advance of every shoot; this should be discussed and agreed with your tutor. When using equipment in a public place the Production Manager will be responsible for advising the Police Authority of all location/shoot details and getting all necessary permissions.

Collection of Equipment

We have a number of stores throughout the university, borrowers should ensure they collect equipment from the correct store on the date and time specified.

It is the responsibility of the borrower to check equipment at the time of collection. Loaned equipment below the value of £2,500.00 is not insured in any way, and any loss or damage to the equipment must be borne by the borrower. The borrower is advised that it is in their interest to insure the equipment.

You may be asked to provide identification before equipment can be taken from the store.

Sub loaning

Sub loaning is not allowed unless authorised by the Manager of the store concerned.

Return of Equipment

The success of the loan system relies on the timely return of borrowed items, failure to return equipment denies other students or staff of the facilities.

Equipment must be returned to a technician in the loaning department. It will be deemed to be still in the possession of the borrower until correct return procedures have been followed.

Equipment is loaned to you on the understanding that it will be returned on the due date. If you do not return it by the date specified there will be a late return fee of £3 per outstanding day capping at £30; if equipment is still outstanding after 30 days you will be charged in full for a replacement. Non payment of fines or invoices to replace equipment may affect your ability to loan equipment in future; monies still outstanding at the end of your degree programme will result in you not receiving your certificate at graduation.

Damaged/lost/stolen items

Damage, loss or theft of equipment must be reported to the Manager of the store concerned together with a written report. The borrower or their insurers will be responsible for repair or replacement costs.

Please remember that loaned equipment below the value of £2,500.00 is not insured in any way, and any loss or damage to the equipment must be borne by the borrower.

Demonstrations and open access

Students and staff wishing to take part in demonstration sessions can do so by booking with a technical demonstrator (tvtechteam@bathspa.ac.uk).

Open access is available at various times, this must be booked via the Siso booking system (https://bathspa.siso.co/cola).

Failure to turn up for demonstrations means that a technician's time is wasted. Failure to turn up for an open access booking will deny others from using the workstation. If you anticipate not being able to attend your allotted demo/open access session then please contact the technical demonstrator (contact details) to let them know. If you fail to attend 3 sessions in total you will be suspended from using the lab facilities for the remainder of the academic year.
