The department of Commerce of Basirhat College was established in 1961 and since then the department is providing education to a large number of students of entire Basirhat subdivision locality.This department has its own departmental library besides the central college library. Our department has a computer laboratory for the students, which is necessary for practical part of the subject -"Information Technology and Its Application in Business".

Dr. Mondal joined this college on 06.12.2016 as Principal of the college. Before that he has served Sree Chaitannya Mahavidyalaya, Habra, as an Associate Professor in commerce for more than 16 years. He passed M. Com. with specialization in Accounting and Finance from the University of Calcutta in the Year, 1985. He is a qualified Cost Accountant (1990) and is awarded Ph. D for his Research work on Human Resource Management – A case study in BHEL in the year 2004. He has vast experience of teaching in UG and PG levels and also in the Professional Institutions. ...more
