Morris English 8 - About Me

Greetings!

The 2026-2027 school year marks my 25 year of teaching and my third year in Bellefonte. Previously, I taught sixth graders to college seniors in PA, MI, and MD.

I earned my PhD in Curriculum and Instruction in 2020. My dissertation explore how to teach students how to write, especially in a world of standardized testing.

My goal for students is to give them the skills to read texts, express their ideas clearly in writing, think critically about the world around them, develop good study habits, and learn how to advocacate for themselves while accepting that actions have consequence.

Facts about Me:

I have 9 niblings (and another 7 I consider my niblings) whom I would drop anything and everything for to help.
My hobbies include reading, avoiding social media, jewelry making, and crochet.
- This summer, nibling #4 taught me to crochet.
- She has managed to make a cloak and a top and random stuffed animals over the summer. I've managed to make a table runner.
I am first-generation American, as my parents are British and only emigrated here a few years before I was born.
I am a certified math teacher.
I have two dogs, Tazz and Growler.
After a 10 year struggle, my older sister died from early-onset ALS at the age of 43 in 2016.
My younger brother lives in San Diego with his wife and seven children.
I hate coffee and have a reputation for drinking Diet Mountain Dew.
Despite having earned three degrees from Penn State and growing up in State College, I have never been to see a football game at Beaver Stadium.
In my free time, I am an assistant editor for Management Business Review.
