Our work on California spiny lobster populations (supported by CA Ocean Protection Council) was recently featured in a news article by California Sea Grant.
September 2023: Congratulations to Liam and Kaitlin on completing the first half of a huge field sampling effort!
PhD student, Liam, and MS student at Coastal Carolina, Kaitlin G., recently finished our first year sampling estuarine communities in 3 Reserves in the southeast. Great work, and looking forward to seeing all of that data!
November 2023: Our NERR Science Collaborative Catalyst grant on oyster reef communities kicked off with a weeklong roadtrip to sample reefs at Sapelo Island and GTM NERRs. Sampling North Inlet and North Carolina later this month.
Welcome to the summer 2023 team!
The lab is planning for a busy and (hopefully) highly productive field season, conducting research in multiple habitat types across the North Inlet-Winyah Bay estuarine system.
July 2022
Another predator-prey paper just accepted! Collaborator and friend of the lab, Chris Knight (currently a PhD student at Stanford's Hopkins Marine Lab) led the publication of a study comparing the foraging responses of sea urchins from kelp forests and urchin barrens to cues from predatory lobsters. Link coming soon.
June 2022
Paper "From polyps to pixels..." was just published in the special issue "Toward a Science of Scaling in Landscape Ecology" in Landscape Ecology. This paper, led by Mary Donovan (@ Arizona State), was a product of the CRESCYNT - NCEAS Data Science for Coral Reefs Workshop from 2018.
