Captain Dennis has been fishing for as long as he can recall. He grew up fishing the unpredictable waters of our State’s oxbow lakes, from Desoto Lake in the north to Lake Washington further south, along the Mighty Mississippi River. The constant rise and fall of the lakes’ water levels have engrained in him with the knowledge of how fish think, what they like to eat, and where they want to relax. Some say Captain Dennis can taste the water to determine which way the fish are headed. Crappie and White Bass are two of the fish species Captain Dennis prefers to target, for they fill a plate with flavor and provide a mighty bout of tug-o-war, respectively, as the Crappie is the filet mignon of the lake and the White Bass is just one fish that doesn’t want to get in your boat. For Captain Dennis, fishing provides the relaxation, peace, and serenity that has the power to heal your soul. His love of the sport, and his eagerness to share his knowledge with others, is why he gets up early in the mornings and heads to the boat ramp. Fishing is about catching fish, but Captain Dennis also loves to pass along whatever he can to enrich others with his love of the sport to insure there will be others to follow him in the future to preserve the way of life, of The Fisherman.
