Work experience
Finding yourself relevant work experience in the health and social care sector is a compulsory part of the course and links in with your coursework assignments for Unit 1 'Building Positive Relationships'.
Work experience is also vital in your personal development and strengthening applications for university, apprenticeships or employment.
You are expected to find your own work experience placements. Please use the resources below, provided by Mo Latham (Work Experience Co-ordinator), to help you with this process.
You will also need to complete a self-placement form. Please make your own copy of the document on the left. This needs to be handed in to Mo Latham (in the progress zone) when its complete.
Q-XTRA
Work experience counts as a Q-XTRA opportunity, so make sure you receive your credits for completing this.
You may also want to consider developing your skills in other areas by taking up other Q-XTRA courses.
Some courses we recommend are:
Basic First Aid
Extended Project Qualification (second years only)
Student Wellbeing Mentor Training Programme
Study Skills
Psychology Extension (if studying Psych A-level too)
You may also want to consider programmes that will benefit you personally and help you manage with the pressures of college life:
Managing Anxiety Programme
Mindfulness
Please see the slides below for more information on what is covered during the Basic First Aid Q-XTRA and details on how to sign up for the course.
