The mental health portion of the day is led by a therapist employed by Astra Behavioral Health. Students attend group therapy for a minimum of 3 hours a day and receive individual counseling based on need. During group sessions, students will work on social skills and mental health wellness activities that will help them become successful members of their community. Skills learned in the group setting will be put to use in the classroom setting to ensure that students understand how to use the skills they are learning.
The academic portion of that day will be led by a certified teacher employed by BCS. Content will be designed to meet students at their instructional level. Since there are multiple grade levels in one room, assignments will be differentiated to serve each child's needs. Our teachers are Exceptional Child Educators who will provide Special Education services to enrolled students. Teachers will collaborate with the therapist to ensure that the social skills taught in therapy are put into action in the classroom.
