Dr. van Stolk-Cooke earned her undergraduate degree in English from Barnard College, and went on to earn her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The University of Vermont. She received predoctoral clinical training at the Veteran's Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System, completing a research rotation with the National Center for PTSD. She completed a research postdoc at Stanford University under the mentorship of Dr. Debra Kaysen. Before coming to Bard, Dr. van Stolk-Cooke worked at SUNY College at Geneseo as an Assistant Professor of Psychology.
Dr. van Stolk-Cooke has research interests and experience in the social contexts of recovery from mental illness, as well as digital mental health assessment and intervention. She is also a practicing clinical psychologist with generalist training across mental health disorders, and specialist training in the treatment of trauma and stressor-related disorders. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her very dashing dog, her very cute toddler, and her very cool husband. She also loves reading sci-fi and fantasy books, dancing, and singing karaoke.
Since Dr. van Stolk-Cooke is new to Bard, she is actively recruiting a team of 4 student research coordinators for the Spring, 2027 semester.

Ashley is a senior Psychology major and Sociology minor at SUNY Geneseo. She has been in the PRISM lab since Fall, 2025. After graduation, she plans to pursue a Masters in Mental Health Counseling.
Ashley is a thrower on the Geneseo Track Team. In her free time, she collects CDs.
Sam is a senior Psychology magor at SUNY Geneseo, and is in his second year working with the illustrious PRISM lab. His current professional interests are counseling, summer camp directing and teaching.
In his free time, he likes to sing and dance. He loves clothes, traveling, camping, hiking, board games, and Magic: The Gathering.
