Fourth Grade Teacher

Hi! My name is Mrs. Barb Dunwald.  This school year I am teaching fourth grade at BIS.  Previously, I taught fourth grade Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts, first and second grade for over 20 years as well as being a guest teacher and Title I reading tutor for Kindergarten and first grade students for 4.5 years at Barberton City Schools.  Also, I have been a latchkey teacher for over 15 years.

Education is a triangle- student, parent, and teacher.

My Philosophy: I believe that every day every child has the right to a safe, positive learning environment, and to make each and every child the best human being possible.  I believe that every day every child is challenged to be the best he/she can be through various activities, projects, and learning tools such as computers, books, field trips, guest speakers, learning centers, whole group activities, small group activities, and individualized learning.  I also believe that it takes all of us to make your child the best he/she can be.  It takes the student to have the drive and willingness to learn. It takes the parents to help guide their child to be the best he/she can be.  (You are your child’s first teacher!)  Lastly, it takes me, the classroom teacher, to guide, direct, and teach your child.  With all of us working together, your child can and will achieve so much.  There is no stopping a positive, happy, and excited child.  The sky is the limit to what your child can and will accomplish in his or her life. Children are the most valuable resource our world has to offer.  We have to nurture, care, and listen to the children.
