Long-Term:
What media existed before the television was invented?
the radio was the go to before the television that was the basis of communication.
Radio pioneer Lee DeForest said in 1926:
“While theoretically and technically television may be feasible, commercially and financially I consider it to be an impossibility…a development of which we need waste little time dreaming” (Elon University).
Radio hosts were communicating to people cross the area about the reality of television becoming a thing. Television was a turning point for a lot of people even though the radio was technology that spread news and was a form of entertainment before the television. The television was a new step because it used a visual so more people can access news especially people who are deaf.
Short-Term:
What led the inventor to create the television?
Other inventors tried to build the television based off of Paul Nipkowk’s invention and Paul’s invention was an experiment.
”At the dawn of television history, two competing experimental approaches led to the breakthroughs that eventually made the technology possible. Early inventors attempted to build either a mechanical television based on Paul Nipkow's rotating disks or an electronic television using a cathode ray tube developed independently in 1907 by English inventor A.A. Campbell-Swinton and Russian scientist Boris Rosing.” -Bellis
There are multiple inventors that helped create what is now television today. Some of them used the idea of Paul’s experiment. Everytime they kept improving it based off of other ideas to create what is now the television. Pauls idea of the roatating disk helped spark the idea of the telivision because it was a system of sending images through wires and spinning disks which is a form of television.
