I.B.A. Perry Commission Project

Dear IBA Members,

The Iowa Bandmasters Association has given approval for a commissioned work project to honor the resilience of the people of Perry, Iowa as they continue to grieve and recover from the tragic events of January 4, 2024. The project goal is to sponsor an instrumental music composition that commemorates and honors the memories of Ahmir Joliff (student) and Dan Marburger (principal), who lost their lives on that day, and extend a spirit of support and hope from the entire Iowa instrumental music community.

The project team is calling for financial assistance for this special commissioned work through grants and donations from multiple sources including entities within IBA, gifts from friends, associates, and communities impacted by this tragedy, and all those sympathetic to the message of maintaining safe and positive school experiences for young musicians everywhere. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for this project.  Any funds received that exceed our costs will be given directly to the Perry Community Schools Instrumental Music Department.

We would be honored if you would consider donating to this very worthy cause.  With our thanks, please visit our donation page (secure link).  You may also send a check to IBA treasurer Tiffany Nelson at the address shown below.

Please note:  the donation is for the Perry Commissioning Project, but the check should be made out to:  Iowa Bandmasters Association.

Sincerely,
