Digital Databases

When conducting academic research, it is important to use scholarly resources.  Our school district subscribes to databases to help you with research.  Databases are large collections of information that have been written by people that are considered experts in their fields.  Information contained in databases is reviewed and edited for accuracy and updated frequently.  Sometimes the database content has been previously printed in journals, newspapers, books, encyclopedias, or reference books.

Ducksters is a site offering  fun activities and games on subjects such as sports, animals, history, science, geography, jokes, math, and biographies.
The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids offers a treasure trove of fascinating facts and fun activities on subjects such as weather, sports, astronomy, history, nature, pets, and much more.
Ben’s Guide to the U.S. Government for Kids is a superb website that teaches kids about U.S history and government. Using Ben Franklin as a tour guide, kids will learn about branches of government, general politics, and government symbols.
Using Google earth and maps in classrooms can help students visualize abstract concepts across a global canvas.  Google earth will be able to help students connect what they learn inside to what they experience in their daily lives, community, and to the world at large.
