Texas Bluebonnet Reading Program

This statewide reading program is for students in the 3rd-6th grades. Every year the Texas Library Association nominates 20 new books for this award. Students just need to read 5 of this year’s current Bluebonnet Nominee books in order to vote for the award winner in January. More information about Bluebonnet Books, book trailers, reader theatre links, and book talks can be found at the following website:  activities link.

Remember: “Read five, and then decide.”

Please keep in mind that not all 20 books are meant for all students in grades 3-6.  Content and difficulty of  books will vary.

From The Bluebonnet Award FAQs: "The books on The TBA Master List are not intended to be read by all children. There are vast differences among the reading tastes of third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders, between boys and girls, and among different children at different points in the year. The program is intended to promote pleasure reading.  Students are encouraged to select the books they want to read and not be rewarded for reading the entire master list."
