Giving maximum effort in practices and meets, knowing the intended benefits and expectations of each workout, and the development of the team concept, are the cornerstones of our coaching philosophy. If we can achieve these things, then chances are we'll be increasingly competitive and cohesive as the season progresses.
We believe that each athlete’s skill level will develop at a different rate, but putting forth a genuine effort and knowing the intended benefits of each workout will maximize development. We try to structure our workouts in a way that reaches each runners developmental physical and mental needs and prepare them for meets. We feel that this will lead to competent and confident runners.
We believe that one key to the creation of high functioning teams centers around attitude. We expect our student athletes to interact in positive ways with one another and that will lead to mutual admiration and support. By building a base of support among coaches, athletes, managers and family, we can increase our success. Its encouraging to know that we "have each others' backs" and will be supported through not only the good times, but also the bad.
In summary, we want to develop competitive athletes that can be proud of Ballard Cross Country. We try to structure workouts that promote physical gains and mental toughness. We strive to promote positivism among all members of the team. We want to represent Ballard in a positive way from all views.
