CHOOSING YOUR YEAR 9 ELECTIVES

If you are a Year 8 student looking to choose your electives for 2022, you are in the right place.

In Year 9 you will do two electives per term. You will select 12 elective preferences from those offered. You will take 8 of these electives over the year. Think carefully because once you have made your choice, a computer program will be used to generate your timetable and you may not be able to change your selections later on.

How to choose your subjects

1. Learn what is on offer

To find out what is being offered for 2022 you need to read ARCHfacts.

It gives a description of all the electives and lists contact people you can talk to about them. Heads of Faculty will come and talk to your class about the electives offered. There will also be an information evening that you can attend with your parents.

Elective subject selections are made on-line.

OTHER THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ELECTIVES

Languages

Students who are selecting Japanese or German, need to decide whether they are going to choose to study it over one semester or a year.

Specialist Sport

Students who have been selected for Specialist Sport, need to list this elective once in their first six preferences. This elective is studied for two terms.

PE Electives

PE Electives are electives that can be taken in addition to Sport Education. However, they can only be chosen twice per year and only once per semester.
