Wicked History: The book "Vlad the Impaler" by Goldberg and Izkowitz is a historical nonfiction book that shows us about Vlad Dracula. Vlad Dracula was the second son of Vlad Dracul and he was the ruler of Wallachia. But if you read this book, you can know that this book is not just about Vlad Dracula's life. It shows the wars, conflicts failures, and successes of his journey too. Before I read this book, the only Dracula that I knew was the blood-drinking ghosts from the old Hollywood movies, but after I read this book, I thought I kind of had a prejudice against the word "Dracula". I really enjoyed this book. (Youngmin. Grade 7)

A Wicked History, Vlad The Impaler: The Real Count Dracula is a historical fiction book written by Enid a. Goldberg and Norman Itzkowitz. This book is about the life of Vlad Dracula and his accomplishments, failures, wars, and allies. I like that this book has images of what it looked like back then. I gave this book a ⅖ for vocabulary because almost all of the vocabulary in this book wasn't hard to understand. Overall, I gave this book a ⅗, I enjoyed reading this book but I prefer reading a book with adventure or action genres. I also found it a little bit boring at times. But this would be a very good book for people who are interested in how things were back in the past. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like books with a historical fiction genre.(Sean. Grade 7)

The book “Vlad the Impaler; The real count Dracula, A Wicked Story'' by Enid A. Goldberg & Norman Itzkowits, is very informative and you can learn so much in just such a thin small book. Its genre fits in both Historical fiction and or Mystery. After reading the title, it ofcourse tells you that the book is about Vlad Dracula, but what wasn’t said on the cover page, was that inside, you can read all the accomplishments, failures, wars, allies and how many allies he broke. My favorite part about the book is that there are pictures within pages as well as a short description/hints of what happens under every picture and also chapter titles. That way if the short description about the upcoming story doesn’t interest you, you will at least get to know what it's about and skip ahead. And another thing, at the end of the book, there is a timeline that shows all the important milestones of Vlad's life. It's more like a reminder. There is also a map with a key explaining what happened and where. The vocabulary was not anywhere near hard in my opinion but there were a few words that might not have been the clearest to me. But overall it was a good book and I would totally recommend it. (Lilly. Grade 7)

I think this is a really good book because of the things that happen and the amount of characterization in it and it makes you feel like you are there. Vlad was just a prince for 7 months and he decided to invite 200 boyars or leaders to a feast. The boyars are enemies of the Vlad family so there is a lot of tension around the table when they had dinner. Then when Vlad knelt at the emperor’s feet so they became members of the orderly of the dragon. They got given a green cape and a black cape and they also received a medallion to show their loyalty. Then Vlad ruled his own land and half a million people were under his control. Vlad liked to put prisoners to work like when he made the stretch a long chain of humans stretching down the steep cliffs and they had to pass up bricks through the line. So I think this book is really interesting and there are lots of different things that happen and it makes you really interested when you start reading because you want to know what is going to happen next. The title of the book is A Wicked History: Vlad The Impaler, The Real Count Dracula by Goldberg and Izkowitz. I think this book would best fit into historical fiction or non fiction because we don't know everything in the book is exactly true. I really enjoyed the book and I think it is really interesting to read about the story of Vlad Dracula. I also like that in these books beneath every picture is a little description about when it happened and what happened. I also like that in the book there are some pages that are only informative and tell you how it was to live back then under Vlads rules. I also think it is very interesting to know how many people actually died because of Vlad and how many people he killed. All in all I really enjoyed the book and I liked it 4 out of 5 and vocabulary difficulty is 2 out of 5 because I didn't understand all the words in the book. (Melati Grade 7)

I think this book is very informational and how you can learn so much but it makes me still. This book is about the life of Vlad Dracula. We learn all his accomplishments, failures, Allies, and how many allies he broke. A good thing about this book is the detailed summary of what happened on the page under every picture. As well as a short description/ hints of what happens under every chapter title that way if you want to skip you can. At the end of the book, there is a timeline of Vlad's life just to remember if you already read the book you can just read the timeline. If you want to follow along with where they move and where the places are in the very beginning there is a map with a key explaining what happened and where. The vocabulary was not very hard but there were a few words that I did not understand or had trouble reading. Overall I loved this book and I think you should read it. (Elsa. Grade 7)

A Wicked History; Vlad The Impaler; The Real Count Dracula

By Enid A Goldberg and Norman Itzkowitz

I think this book is amazing. It is about the life of Vlad Dracula and his accomplishments and failures. It has detailed descriptions and stories on every picture. It has a short description of what happens under every chapter title. There is also a short timeline at the end of the book which summarises the entire book. It also provides a map of the surrounding area of Wallachia ( The birthplace of Vlad Dracula ). The vocabulary was not very hard but there were some words that I did not understand. So I would rate the vocabulary ⅖. And I would rate the book a 5/5. (Philippe. Grade 7)
