"The Witches" by Roald Dahl is a Dark fantasy book written about witches. The genre of this story is dark fantasy or paranormal. In this story, witches are shown as a group that hates children that is all over the world. The story starts with a British boy and his Norwegian grandmother talking about witches in real life. I liked this book because the author had good techniques such as idioms and good settings. I rate this book 4 out of 5 because most of the story was good, but the ending was little weird and I rate the grammar level 1 out of 5. (Youngmin. Grade 7)

The book 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl is a comical fiction book. This book is about a boy who's grandmother told him about witches; evil, ugly, bad-intentioned women that were out to get children. One day the boy goes to a hotel and finds a group of them. This is a children's book so I recommend it for 7-10 year olds, otherwise you might find the story boring just like I did. Since kids are simple there wasn't a lot of suspense or a big plot twist in this book which, unlike little kids, is necessary to keep me reading a book for long. The vocabulary was simple and easy. The Witches is a fantasy novel written by Roald Dahl.

It's about a boy that lost his parents in a car accident at the beginning of the book, he has to live with his grandmother. Every night before he goes to sleep his grandmother tells him a new story about witches. One night she tells him how to recognize a witch, they always wear gloves because they have claws instead of fingernails. They are also bald so they have to wear wigs all the time and they have blue spit. These are just some of the ways to recognize a witch. One day his grandmother get seriously ill, but when she recovered the doctors told her to go on a holiday, they used to live in Norway but needed to move to England because Norway is the place with the most witches in the world. On the holiday they check into a hotel and the boy finds out that the ladies from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children are in the same hotel, he has never heard about the organization.

One day he goes to an empty room to train his pet rats. When the ladies from the organization come into the room, he hides behind a “wall” later he finds out that all the ladies are actually witches, the leader, the grand high witch, has come up with an idea to kill all children in the world by turning them into mice. Just as the witches are leaving one of the witches smells a child's smell. One of the witches finds the boy.

What will happen to him now…? (Marta. Grade 6)
