“The War That Saved My Life” by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley is a historical fiction book taking place in England during World War II. The story focuses mainly on two siblings, a crippled girl named Ada and her little brother Jamie who live with an abusive mother. It focuses on how they deal with their mother and the war that is going on. The book is full of emotion and is good at making you feel some empathy. The vocabulary used in the book isn’t too challenging, but there are some words that can be considered inappropriate. I rated this book a 4/5, as I found it to be an interesting book with a pretty good story. (Ashton. Grade 8)

“The War That Saved My Life” by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley is a historical fiction book that is set during World War II. A 10-year-old girl, Ada, and her 6-year-old brother, Jamie are being moved from London to a safer place. With the threat of war being imminent their mother chooses to send them away. Well, she only chooses Jamie, Ada sneaks into the carriage with Jamie and leaves her home forever. She was abused by her mother because of her clubfoot. She was never allowed to go outside because her mother was embarrassed by her. Ada lets all of that go and starts a new life in a small English village with her new caretaker Mrs. Smith. Will they survive the war? I enjoyed this book, (I like reading historical fiction about WWII). I recommend this book to people who like historical fiction and realistic fiction. (Amerie. Grade 8)
