"The 1,000 Year Old Boy" by Ross Welford follows the life of an "11-year-old boy" called Alfie Monk. He actually appears to be 11 years old but in truth, he does not age and is over 1,000 years old. This story explains how Alfie loses his only relative and ends up becoming friends with two other kids. Together, they all go on an adventure to find a way to start Alfie's growth again so he can live a normal life. However, they face some challenges along the way. This was a sweet book that was easy to read. I would recommend it for ages 10 and up. It is mostly targeted at people who enjoy reading books with the genres of fiction and realistic fiction. “The 1000 Year Old Boy” by Ross Welford, is a fantasy, action/adventure novel. The main character, Alfie (Alve), is 11 years old, or at least in an 11 year olds body. In reality he is actually over 1,000 years old! He has seen many things and met many people, including seeing the viking invasions and meeting Charles Dickens! According to Alfie, living forever isnt all its cracked up to be, and although he had fun in the past, he longs for a normal life and to age like any other kid. Alfie has met many friends in the past, and have told them about his secret, but none seem to believe him, and they eventually leave him as they grow old and pass. Alfie hopes that his new set of friends will help him on his quest to end his eternal life. Will his friends new believe him? I liked this book, and I recommend it to people who like a good adventure book with more realistic tendencies (Amerie, Grade 8)
