Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi, is a novel that combines both the romance and action genres. It is about a teenage girl whose touch can kill. She is held captive in an asylum and The Reestablishment, a harsh dictatorship, wants to use her as a weapon. However, she longs for a life of freedom with the one person she loves. I enjoyed reading this book because I thought the storyline was really interesting and there were many plot twists that kept me wanting to read on. The story had many suspenseful moments which left me wondering what would happen next. It should be noted that the book contains some vocabulary that may not be suitable for young children. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy stories that are both romantic and action-packed and have many suspenseful plot twists. (Seoyeon. Grade 8)

"Shatter Me" by Tahereh Mafi was a nice book. This story is based on a 17-year-old girl called Juliette Ferrars. However, Juliette is not like other normal teens, she has the power to kill and paralyze anyone she touches. Because of this, she is sent to an asylum where she falls for a boy who is secretly supposed to get information out of her. Why does his face look so familiar? Juliette will soon be taken away from the asylum to be used as a weapon to threaten people by a bad organization. What will happen to her? Is she the only one with abnormal powers? This was a good book. It was fast-paced, exciting, and interesting. I would recommend it for grades 6 and up because it includes some swearing and might be a bit tough for younger ages. “Shatter Me” by Tahereh Mafi is About the main character, Juliette, escaping her (physical and mental) prison, and harnessing her power to kill people with just one touch to use it for the better. Juliette has been alone in her prison, she has not had any human interaction for over 2 years, she was completely isolated. One night another prisoner (a male one) joins her in her isolated prison. Will he find out about her deadly secret? Juliette doesnt want him to find out, but she doesnt exactly have control over that. I quite like this book, it kind of has a mystery aspect to it but mostly fits the genre of dystopian fiction (which I love!). I recommend it to people who like a good romance story with some action mixed in. (Amerie Grade 8)
