“Chasing King’s Killer” by James L. Swanson is a book that deep dives into the life of Martin Luther King Jr, his experiences, and his involvement with the civil rights movement. It goes through the timeline of his life and the events that come upon him up to his passing. I enjoyed this book as the actual history of the civil rights movement was very compelling mixed with his perspective as a leader in the campaign. All the events and the timeline as a whole are also very cohesive and easy to digest. I also enjoy the sense of suspension as I feel that even though may not think, this book is a page-turner not letting you close the book but rather making you want to see what happens next. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the civil rights movement as it covers that history quite extensively but also just anyone as it will captivate you no matter what you enjoy as a reader. It is also quite easy to read with only a few terms and vocabulary which are new but as a whole, I would say it was a great book. (Oliver. Grade 8)
