3D printing offers transformative possibilities for both classroom learning and real-world applications. This technology allows students to transform digital designs into physical objects, bridging the gap between abstract concepts and tangible results.
In the professional world, 3D printing has revolutionized multiple industries. Medical professionals create custom prosthetics and surgical models. Engineers rapidly prototype new designs, dramatically reducing development time and costs. Architects build detailed models to visualize complex structures. Manufacturing companies produce customized parts on demand, reducing waste and inventory costs.
The educational benefits are equally powerful. Students developing 3D printing skills gain practical experience with a technology that's increasingly prevalent across industries. They learn design thinking, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving through hands-on creation. The technology naturally supports STEM curriculum while encouraging creativity and innovation.
By introducing 3D printing into your classroom, you're not just teaching a technical skill—you're providing students with tools to visualize, create, and solve problems in ways that prepare them for future careers in an increasingly technological world.
Our 3D printing workshops:
All of our workshops are focused on developing students' 3D design skills while understanding the benefits and specific details required to successfully 3D print. All sessions use our own Tinker CAD classroom for your students to work in (which requires no identifiable data to be saved) before having their 3D designs printed and sent back to the school (usually within 7 days).
Below are some examples of our 'off the shelf' 3D design workshops:
Designing a keyring
Designing a robot
Designing architectural models
Designing a 3D logo
We are, however, happy to adapt workshops to specific focus (e.g. curriculum learning) or interests for each class. If you would like a specific focus for your session, just let us know when you book. All of our workshops are aligned to the National Curriculum to ensure that they support the coverage of DT and Computing in your school.
Workshop timings and costs:
Workshops can be booked for either a half day or whole day. A full day can accommodate 3 sessions while a half day can accommodate either 2 (over a morning) or 1 (over an afternoon) sessions. We are flexible with timings so if you have specific requirements, let us know when booking.
The discounted prices for the summer term 2025 are listed below:
Half day workshop: £150 (usually £220)
Full day workshop: £275 (usually £350)
Each workshop includes travel costs, delivery and printing of 15 models (based on pupils working in pairs). Additional models can be printed for an additional £2 per model. Schools will be invoiced after the workshop has taken place for payment within 28 days.
