Photography by students on the NCFE Level 2 Photography course
at Bromley Adult Education College
This is a course consisting of three units:
1 - Explore photographic equipment, techniques, materials and resources
2 - Develop and adapt photographic ideas
3 - Presenting a portfolio of photographic images
The photos in this exhibition are from all three units. For unit 1 students selected a personal subject area for 'The Frame' assignment and explored one or more of the following compositional features in their photos: Rule of Thirds; Golden Spiral; Horizontal/Vertical Lines; Triangles; Symmetry/Asymmetry; Negative Space; Rule of Odd & Even; Juxtaposition. Students had to be precise with the framing of their photos as they were not allowed to crop the images after taking them. For Unit 2, students completed three assignments: Distortion, Self Image and a personal theme of their choice for the Minor Project. Finally for Unit 3 students selected a personal area of photography for their photography portfolio.
The next course will start in September 2021. To attend the course you will need to have your own digital SLR camera, which you will learn how to use effectively along with various photographic techniques including studio lighting.
You will research the work of other photographers and learn to describe the visual language of images. For unit 3 you will select an area of photography such as landscape, portrait, still life, architecture, social documentary, close up, wildlife or digital manipulation and produce a portfolio of images.
Upon successful completion of your portfolio, you will gain the Level 2 qualification.
