Taking a look at Girls Varsity volleyball, they seem to be moving onto bigger and better things!
As the tournaments start to creep around the corner, Junior Abby White, has a positive note to start on.
White said, "Our team is great about using communication skills on the court when it comes to calling off balls. It gets the job done better when we talk because it helps let our peers know who has the ball and who needs help."
She just proved a huge point in that simple phrase by in a nutshell saying, "communication is key". Although, she did not say that specifically, that is what she was implying.
Along with good communication, you need a good bond. While playing on a team with people that you are closer to, it is easier to build a stronger connection and help to feel out peoples' stronger points.
White said, "At practices, everyone does a little bit of everything just in case there were ever to be a time where we needed other people to sub in for the positions they are not used to." This is always a good thing to do because if some teammates are only used to having one specific position just for them and there is a missing person that needs their spot filled... then, they need to be able to play their role as well.
By having a good bond, it comes with team bonding. For example, they always have team dinner before a game to help bring the team together and help get the energy and nutrients they need before a game.
That is a good way to get the team together so they can have time to eat along with time together to talk about plays and/or what their goals will be.
To bring up the last point, is goalsetting. If you set goals, it is a more efficient way to help get things done. For example, talking at team dinner, getting a plan together at practice along with a back up plan and knowing what their strong points are to be able to maintain a winning game.
