On Thursday November 10, junior and senior students from Hamilton High and Badin will participate in Civic Day.
Civic Day is a program which allows students to participate in our city's government. The students will assume roles of City School Board leaders and will run a School Board and City Council meeting.
There are positions offered for students in these categories: City Council, City Administration, and School Board.
Students attended their orientation meeting at City Council Chambers on September 21.
Students got to shadow their city leader for a morning to see what a work day looks like for them and what exactly their department does.
Students had to attend 3 of the 5 scheduled events including 17 Strong Day, Historic Hamilton Tour, Police Station Tour, Economic Development Tour, and a tour of Spooky Nook Athletic Complex.
Students participating in Civic Day will be gone during the school day with a long list of activities ahead of them.
Those activities include being sworn in as a member of the city government, observing municipal court, a school board and city council meeting, and a luncheon at The Courtyard Marriott.
