Up against our rival school, Badin students went a little too crazy on the drum...
It was just an average day of school year and that night there was a varsity soccer game. Lo and behold, it was against our rivals, Ross High School.
As mentioned beforehand, the student section loves bringing the drum wherever the herd travels to. But, this time things got a little out of hand. Not only did the students get in trouble for playing the drum when the game was in play, but they got a little too carried away while doing so.
Within the first half of the game, suddenly there was a hole in the drum. The students absolutely raved about the fact that it was broken and now their responsibility to try and come up with a new solution.
"For the past four years, people have hit the drum in such a way, so it was bound to happen eventually," senior Patrick Ray said.
This is also our last year with the drum because the original owner of the drum, Jackson Long Class of 2020 wants it back after our fifth year with it. The student section always has a blast with the drum whether it's at a soccer, basketball, volleyball or even a football game.
Thankfully, we have been offered by Ms. Jaki Howser to borrow one of her drums from the music department for future games. We have drums squared away from when Badin had a marching band in years past.
Lastly, Brady Cook, had some equipment at home to fix the drum, even though it is not in tip top shape.. it is still in good enough condition to return back to Long.
