In the Spring, Badin Theater performs a musical, and this year was no exception with a great performance of The Drowsy Chaperone. The musical takes place in the 1920s when a popular performer, Janet van de Graaff is preparing to get married to Robert Martin. The musical goes through many twists and turns that lead to Janet almost canceling the wedding. In the end, we are left with four weddings in one.
Caroline Boyle said, “That was so good. They were all really great singers too. I think that was the best show yet”
The show was very entertaining and kept people laughing the whole time. On the second day of the show, Friday, the theater was almost completely full. It was packed with all people old and young, engaging all.
Andrew Keck, who has participated in Badin Theater previously, said, “It was interesting and different to be on the other side of the stage. I really got to enjoy the show and see things from a different perspective.”
Andrew decided to take a break from the big theater performance and join tennis, but he does still take theater class at Badin. Andrew was not the only one to not participate in the Spring Musical, Maguire Smith and Rogue Carruthers also made the same decision to take a break. However, all three of them did come and see the musical on Friday, April 21st.
The musical took a lot of hard work, time, and effort. Without the work of director and set/costume designer Sarah Cline, vocal director/conductor Hal Thomas, choreographer Christian Sansone, technical director and light designer Tom Cline, the orchestra, the crew, stagecraft, and costume class the musical would not have been able to go on. Great job to all involved.
