As spring time rolls around one of the many things high school students look forward to, besides spring break and the changing of our clocks, is Prom.
Prom is one of the many dances high schoolers can go to. Though for Badin kids it’s only for the Junior and Senior classes. Sophomores can go to Prom as well if they are asked by an upperclassman..
But, with the chaos of the previous year and how it still seems to be hovering around, prom seemed to be impossible. Governor DeWine even said dancing was banned due to COVID-19 back in November as he added more restrictions to keep Ohioans safe.
Though he went back on his word last week and allowed schools to start planning for the big event. Along with other big group gatherings, that would have been prohibited with the pandemic.
“There are a lot of signs of spring out there and a lot of things to be happy about as we move forward,” The Governor said during the conference.
Students are even buying dresses and making plans from the excitement, not at all worried about the possibility that this might change.
More formal instruction on how to handle the dances so everyone can enjoy themselves is coming out March 4th about how these gatherings should be handled in a safe way that will allow students to congregate for the big dance.
Unfortunately, most schools have made it a senior only event this year. Badin did say that both juniors and seniors will have Prom though so, sorry sophomores.
Masks and other COVID-19 guidelines, along with the formal instruction, will still be mandatory of course, but at least we have a chance to have an actual Prom!
Updates on whether or not prom will actually happen will come, the dance is scheduled for April 17th, but for now let’s celebrate by planning ahead for the big event!
