At the end of every September, the Badin Girls Tennis Team competes in the Coaches’ Classic Tournament. This season, the tournament was played at Ursuline Academy.
The matches were played against Ursuline Academy, St. Ursula and Mariemont. Many of these teams were very hard for the team to play against.
“I think Mariemont is always good and they are very tough to beat,” senior Lucy Wurzelbacher said.
The team practiced a lot and had many forms of preparation for these matches.
“Mentally I tried to find statistics online but it became apparent that none of the teams updated stats. Other than that, I took a hot shower to relax my muscles and I listened to Frank Ocean and Tatum gave me a pep talk,” junior Ryleigh Clemmons said.
There were also many things that the players did well in their matches, which was most likely due to their hard work beforehand.
“I did well at concentrating on my hits and trying not to hit them out,” Wurzelbacher said.
The girls enjoy matches like this for many reasons including spending time together and improving their playing skills.
“I like spending time with the team and bonding for hours,” junior Ellie Gibbons said.
There are only a few matches left this season, including sectionals. The girls hope to play well and to win their final matches.
“Sectionals is usually pretty tough but we will give it our best shot,” Clemmons said.
Overall, the Girls Tennis Team has had a very good season and we hope they will do well in sectionals.
