The Badin students and faculty had the chance to practice remote days right before Thanksgiving break. These days were to help everyone get a better understanding of what remote days were actually going to be like.
After the students came back from break, they had a lot to say about the practice days.
“I personally liked how the remote days were set up. You get more down time then you would being at school. But I love being around the Badin community when we are in school,” senior Abby Sandifer stated.
“When we did online school last year, I really didn’t like it. I felt like I didn’t learn anything at all and that I was just doing busy work. Plus, I learn better when I am at school in person. I feel like a lot of people would agree with me on that,” senior Colin Conner said.
There are many different opinions within the Badin community and many students have their own ideas on how to make the remote days more accommodating for everyone.
“One thing I would change about the online days is that I would rather the teachers not be allowed to keep us on the zoom for so long. One thing that I like about being in school is being able to move around every 45 minutes or so but with online and being in zooms you're not able to move for over an hour if the teacher wishes to keep their students on for the full period or chunk of time,” senior Abby Sandifer said.
“I hated remote days because of the mandatory zooms. I know that they are for attendance purposes for most part but I felt like I had assignments but then I finished them pretty quickly. Half of my day was just waiting around for zooms to start,” senior Jacob Collins said.
“I thought that some of my classes were overloaded with work and those classes didn't explain what the actual assignment was, or, I had a class that had absolutely no work, where everything was explained for what was going to happen when we met again, in person or online,” senior Kaitlynn Falk said.
The overall consensus of the remote days was that students were being overloaded with work, and that they didn’t really like the zooms. However, with the current state of the world, it seems that Badin has a pretty good plan for remote days.
