Badin’s final theater productions for the 2020-2021 school year include two one act plays, “Our Place” and “Virtual Whodunnit”.
When the cast lists came out, rehearsals were multiple times each week. Though this may seem like a lot, sophomore Olivia Blanton who’s in “Our Place” was excited.
“I am Liberty, in the Tuna Fish story and I’m on a date with my boyfriend, and am eating a tuna fish sandwich,” Blanton said. “I like being involved in something, and I like my role because I feel like I’m very passionate and Liberty is a very passionate character.”
“Our Place” is about more than just tuna fish though.
“It’s a number of stories of friends and people, not together, but they meet at the same place,” Blanton said.
Each scene is set on a dock, and all of the characters are linked through their connection with the dock.
The other play, “Virtual Whodunnit”, has the characters connected through something more sinister, and Eva Groh, a sophomore, is a part of it.
“Virtual Whodunnit is about a millionaire who suddenly dies while on a call with his family, and homicide detective Sloan has to figure out who murdered him,” Groh said.
Groh is so excited to be in this mystery play.
“I am Florina Sterling, the millionaire's wife. I have to speak in a Romanian accent and sound like a vampire. I have step kids and don't particularly like any of them (in the show, I love them in real life). I am always around my friends and being comfortable to act like my crazy self,” Groh said.
These shows will premiere April 23 and April 24 online.
“I’m most excited for my friends and family to see me perform,” Blanton said.
