As the school year begins to wrap up, students begin making plans for summer. Being our second summer in the COVID-19 pandemic, it is interesting to see how students have altered their plans to stay safe.
Many students will still be travelling despite COVID-19, but in safer ways.
“I am going to Iceland during June, to stay with my aunt in Mexico for 2 to 3 weeks in July, and interning at Butler University for the rest of the summer. I will be wearing a mask, socially distancing, and hanging out with friends less. I am also scheduled to get my vaccine before the end of the school year,” junior Adrianna Garcia said.
Other students have plans closer to home, and still plan to obey COVID-19 guidelines.
“I will be doing PE class because I don't like public humiliation, and a theater program that will delve in modern problems, which will be amazing. I plan to stick to the guidelines because I don't want to get sick or get other people sick, specifically the last part because I'm getting my second shot this week,” junior Jillian Palomino said.
Other students plan to not adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines because of their personal preferences.
“Life needs to get on as is, and I'm a firm believer if you're scared you wear the masks and if not get on with life,” junior Lindsey McKenna said.
Many students have not changed any of their upcoming Summer plans due to COVID-19.
“No summer plans have been changed as a little covid will not get me down’” freshman Patrick Farrell said.
Overall, whether students are planning to obey COVID-19 guidelines or not, it will be interesting to see how each student spends their summer.
