Every year, Badin students are asked to sell raffle tickets to fundraise for Badin athletics. The tickets are used in a raffle to win prizes for money or pay for school tuition.
This year with COVID-19, students have to sell their tickets online instead of in person like usual. This form of sales has mixed feelings from students, and the raffle has mixed feelings in general.
Some students enjoy selling raffle tickets because it can help the school and they get rewards.
“I am selling raffle tickets because it can help everyone in the school and can help support the Badin athletics,” freshman Emma Middleswarth said.
Contrary to this, many students are against selling raffle tickets because they think that they already have to pay a lot in tuition and shouldn’t have to pay more.
“I am not selling raffle tickets because the school already has all my money. Also, it is annoying and I don't know how to do it, and nobody wants to do them, they just want the rewards,” senior Will Brossart said.
Many students have the same views due to paying tuition.
“We already pay tuition and it's already super expensive so why should we donate money to another kid's potential tuition,” junior Lindsey McKenna said when asked about the raffle.
In conclusion, Badin students have mixed feelings about the raffle, and it definitely has both benefits and downsides.
