The Weeknd’s halftime performance has sparked some controversy, since the Superbowl. It has been getting a lot of mixed reviews, by Badin students and people everywhere. Alexis Duffy, Alyssa Jackson, Elizabeth Colonel and Drew Hootman had some thoughts on the performance.
This halftime show was full of energy and had a fun vibe. Most people enjoyed the show, but it was different then the “traditional” crazy show.
“I really enjoyed the Superbowl halftime show and I think it was different and unique. The Weeknd is one of my favorite artists, so I was very excited. My favorite part of the performance was the beginning when the choir started to sing,” Duffy said.
The songs he sang were some of his most popular songs of this year. It was also probably the only live performance of 2021, so many people were excited for this show.
“I really liked the show. I felt like I knew every song that he sang. I think my parents honestly got sick of me singing them. My favorite part of the performance was when they all went on the football field,” Jackson said.
One of the most exciting parts of the show was when the Weeknd and his backup dancers went onto the football field for the finale. It had a very different energy than most of the halftime shows, but enjoyable.
“I thought the Weeknd’s halftime show was the best halftime show ever. I really liked the energy of the performance and I knew all of the songs. My favorite part was when they all went on the field for the finale,” Colonel said.
However, not everyone liked the show or was interested in the halftime show at all.
“I didn’t care for the halftime performance, I think it’s boring and I wanna watch football. My favorite part was the end of the halftime show,” Hootman said.
