These past two weeks have had a lot of updates about the future of the MCU. Many announcements about their new films and shows with COVID-19 still affecting the world.
Kicking off the streaming aspect of Marvel’s Phase 4 is WandaVision. But following up not too far behind is Falcon & Winter Soldier this spring. The show has recently finished film production and is now going through post-production.
Not much is known about the show yet, except for what was shown during the Super Bowl trailer. But from what we know of some MCU actors will be reprising their roles besides Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie.
Sharon Carter (Agent 13) played by Emily VanCamp and Captain America Civil War villain Baron Zemo played by Daniel Bruhl will be back. Alongside them will be a new character, the government replacement for Captain America, U.S. Agent John Walker portrayed by Wyatt Russell.
In the film world, many new MCU films are set to release next year. After Black Widow (May 7, 2021) the next film set to come out July 9th is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film just wrapped up filming and is now entering post-production.
Little is known about the film besides the name of the terrorist organization that kidnapped Tony Stark in the Iron Man film. The Kung-Fu fighting character might play a big role in the future of the cinematic universe.
The next film to be released is Marvel’s Eternals with a large cast to support the upcoming film. The movie was going to be released to the public this month, but unfortunately was pushed back a year even with the film finished and ready to go.
It will now be out November 5, 2021 and hopefully there will be a trailer release sometime this year. Until then, anyone looking forward to this mysterious new installment to the MCU will have to wait.
After the cliff-hanger Spider-Man: Far From Home left us with in one of the post credit scenes, the fans are dying to know what happens next.
The anticipated Spider-Man three home… home something if the trend will be continuing. Actors Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon, playing Peter Parker and Ned Leeds, have arrived in Atlanta with director Jon Watts to begin filming.
There are many rumors about the multiverse being in play for this film because of Sony’s Oscar winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The film integrated various iterations of Spider-Man and many are wondering if something similar will occur for this one. With the sequel to The Doctor Strange titled Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness and actor Benedict Cumberbatch is going to appear in this third Spider-Man film. Will he introduce the idea to Peter?
Another rumor is about The Sinister Six playing a role as the villains in the movie. The Sinister Six is a group of villains Spider-Man faces in the comics, and a potentially upcoming Sony film.
The only known cast member to play the role of a villain for this film is Jamie Foxx. He formerly played the foe Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Andrew Garfield’s adaptation and is said to be reprising his role. Could that add to the multiverse theory? The character Electro is a part of the antagonistic group, will he lead the way to create The Sinister Six?
The only other villain speculation, at the moment, is about the Russian tracker Kraven the Hunter. Maybe the character will be introduced to the screen this way? With Peter being revealed as Spider-Man it would make sense for there to be villains hunting him down. But it’s just a rumor for now unfortunately.
Big things are coming to the big and little screen for the MCU. Avid fans are dying to find out what happens next for these beloved characters with the aftermath of Avengers Endgame. To learn more about these new films, check out the links below.
