Well just like that, 2020 is almost over, just three more weeks left to go. However, you read the title right, there will be a few songs and artists receiving honorable mentions. Some of the song or songs categories will be most popular, listened to the most, most recommended and least popular. As for the artists, their categories will be different, such as: most popular or listened to, produced the best album, gained the most fame and so on.
First up is the most played and listened to song, “Blinding Lights'' by Canadian singer The Weeknd. The song debuted on Nov. 29, 2019. “Blinding lights'' made an appearance after “Heartless” giving the fans of The Weeknd a small taste of his album “After Hours.” That album was soon released in March of this year.
The most recommended songs were “Mad At Disney” Salem Ilese, “Mood” by 24Goldn, “Break My Heart” by Dua Lipa, and so many more. I would definitely recommend checking out the Spotify “Top 500 Most Popular Songs 2020” playlist for more of the top recommended songs.
According to the article, “The Top 5 Worst songs of 2020 (so Far)” by Mackenzie Cummings-Grady, there are a total of seven songs. The main song is by the artist 6ix9ine, “GOOBA”. The next song to follow is “Yummy” by Justin Bieber. As for the rest, they are “I Love My Country” by the Florida Georgia line, “So Long” by Diplo, and so on. These songs have won the title of the most disliked songs.
Now on to the artists: the most popular female artists, Ariana Grande and Billie Eillish were the top female artists of this year. The top male artists this year are Juice Wrld, The Weeknd, and Harry Styles.
The most popular album is by Taylor Swift, “Folklore”. The album was released on July 24 of this year, selling over a million copies in the US.
This year was definitely a year of great music and the surprise of old artists coming back from their years of “hiding”. With surprises of singers collaborating together and new releases, maybe 2021 will have to try a little harder to beat 2020 in the music department. Lets see what 2021 will have in store for us next year.
