Spirit Olympics at Badin has been an annual event that many students look forward to. It takes place in February, which is the perfect time to add a week of fun into the school schedule.
This year with the pandemic, things were bound to be different. Badin staff have things planned to be as normal as possible, while still taking precautions to keep students safe.
“Spirit olympics last year was one of the most memorable experiences of my freshman year, so I’m glad we can still do it this year,” sophomore Ava Franchini said.
Some of the changes this year will change the atmosphere of the gym drastically. For example, instead of everyone being in the gym, students not participating will be watching a live stream of the games from separate classrooms. The classrooms will have people split up by homeroom.
“I think it will probably not be as fun without everyone being in the gym and being there live to cheer on your class, but I understand there would be no way for that to happen with everything going on this year. However, I think you should at least be able to choose who you are watching the games with,” Franchini said.
The games this year include: obstacle course, basketball relay, tug o war and dodgeball. There aren’t any major changes to how the games will be played. The Seniors and Sophomores will kick off the event with the Freshmen and Juniors following.
“I’m glad all the games are planned to happen normal. I think overall this year things will go well and hopefully it’s still just as competitive,” Franchini said.
