As spring break is practically here, students start to think about the candy that will soon arrive… and how Jesus suffered and died on the cross for our sins and his ascension into heaven.
Regardless of the meaning being Easter, it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate this holiday. COVID-19 might hinder our plans because protecting those we love comes first, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on the fun memories made such as Easter traditions!
The Badin Banner wanted to know if the students have any family traditions for this holiday and most of the students did! Let’s see what they are shall we?
Junior Adrianna Garcia has a rather messy family tradition for Easter, “I crack eggs on my sisters’ heads,” which I’m sure is fun to clean up once the egg cracking is over.
“Me and my twin brother Michael love to wake up on Easter morning and search for our baskets hidden in our evil lair (basement). We never know what surprise awaits us,” Senior David Schweinefuss said, “One year, Michael got exactly what he asked for, a new set of Pokémon cards! Me and him batted it out every day, my favorite was always Charizard. It went well until one Easter when I got mad at Michael and threw my Easter eggs at him.”
Other students have much more calmer traditions compared to the previous ones.
Sophomore Hailey Lipp said, “Yes; we wake up, hunt for eggs, eat breakfast together, go to church, go to my dad's side for breakfast, and mom's side for dinner.”
“I like to play games with my family and the Easter bunny hides the baskets in our house and we have to look around for them. I love Easter because I get to spend time with the people I care about the most-- my family,” Junior Sam Vornhagen said.
Easter is a time to get together with those you love and The Badin Banner hopes you get to spend the holiday with your families. Happy Easter everyone!
