Many students have a lot of different interests, but one student loves history.
Sophomore student Josette Grabel has a lot of fascinating interests. For instance, she wants to become a dermatologist when she grows up.
“I don’t really know why; I just like diagnosing stuff. That kind of stuff is really interesting,” Grabel said.
Grabel also loves the quiet isolation of Tennessee. She would love to be able to live there when she is older.
“I love the country. Just the houses in the middle of nowhere,” Grabel said.
Good thing there are many U.S. Civil War battle sites in Tennessee, because Grabel’s favorite era is the Civil War.
“I like the Civil War because I think it put an end to a very big part of history,” Grabel stated.
Grabel doesn’t just like the Civil War because it helped put an end to slavery. She also likes the violence.
“I really like the battles; the smaller battles actually. My favorite battle to learn about was the Battle of Antietam because it was the bloodiest war,” Grabel said.
Even the early weapons used back then has made Grabel incredibly fascinated with how the Civil War was different from the later battles the U.S has been through.
“I love how they had different kinds of technology; it’s just really interesting.”
